Uganda
At least one person has been killed and several injured in clashes between the police and opposition supporters in Uganda.
Police fired bullets and tear gas to disperse supporters of presidential aspirant Kizza Besigye in the capital Kampala paralyzing businesses.
The supporters in turn cast stones and erected street blockades.
Earlier in the day, police detained the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate as he tried to access the Kampala Central Business District.
This is the worst outbreak of violence since campaigns started ahead of the presidential polls in three days.

The 59-year-old has been arrested on several occasions under President Yoweri Museveni’s regime.
Besigye is attempting to end Museveni’s three decade rule in the East African country.
The latest results from opinion polls indicate that President Museveni has a 53 per cent lead ahead of his closest opponent Besigye at 28 per cent.
Analysts perceive that the February 18 elections will be a two horse race despite having eight candidates including former prime minister Amama Mbabazi.
